"Ah!" He slid his foot away as Tim grasped onto his ankle, out of mere habit. Weird. Weird, that Tim didn't see them but he could feel them. Or him, at least. What the hell was going on? Did Dragon really use some kind of spell to make them both invisible? If he did, they were still there, existing. Tim touched him!

"Y-yeah?" Kinley said, unable to keep his voice from shaking from both apprehension and a weird sense of hilarity. It was kinda funny, after all! They were right in front of Tim but he couldn't actually see them. After a moment, Kinley reached out and tried to touch Tim. Since he was held so tightly, though, he mostly just barely brushed one of Tim's arms.

"I think Dragon made us invisible."

"He can do that?" Tim asked he jerked his arm away reflexively, then relaxed. "Well, keep on being invisible! My parents thought they heard you guys up here so keep quiet! I gotta go pick up Andy. Keep. Quiet. Okay?" He turned to leave, closing the door behind him softly.

Dragon let out a soft noise of concern. He could keep the invisibility up but... he wasn't supposed to use his magic here. It was like a beacon, a signal to the master. Dragon let go of Kinley finally and glanced at the window. It was all dark and quiet outside but he could feel the disturbance already, in the air. The portal? Was it opening again? The master had to know by now that Dragon was here, now that he had given himself away.

"Kiney..." The glow lit up the room--the glow from Kinley's pocket where he'd put the card. Dragon scooted quickly off the bed, his frightened face illuminated by the light. "No... no," he moaned, putting out a hand as if he could block the light from reclaiming him.

"Apparently."

All right, so he was supposed to stay invisible and quiet. That didn't sound so difficult, although it did kinda creep Kinley out that he might not be able to become visible again. Dragon wouldn't leave him this way though! Relaxing against the pillows, he was actually kind of glad Tim couldn't see them. It didn't seem like he'd noticed what occurred between the two of them and he was just fine leaving it at that.

"Okay," he said quietly as he watched Tim leave. Then there was silence and Kinley tried to curl back up against Dragon but he didn't seem okay with what just happened. When Dragon let go of him, Kinley made a small sound of protest and attempted to pull him back but... What? Was there something outside? Kinley followed Dragon's concerned gaze to the window but he only saw the rustling of a tree branch in the wind. Smiling, Kinley put a hand gently on Dragon's shoulder. Maybe he thought it was somebody outside.

"It's just a tree branch," he said, as quietly as possible but... but Dragon was up and springing out of the bed as something lit up the entire room. Something coming from... Kinley's pocket?! Kinley also got to his feet and he pulled the card out. The light from it was blinding and Kinley let out a cry as he dropped it. Why was it hot?

"Dragon?"

Just like that, he was gone. Not in the room anymore. When Kinley looked down at the card where it had fallen on his bed, he only saw the back of it. Trembling slightly, he picked it up and turned it around to look at the face of the card.

Hurled through the portal at an incredible speed, Dragon's head was still reeling as he hit the ground. In a daze, he struggled to his feet and found that they weren't the two twiggy human legs that he had only moments ago. He was back in his real form, the long inky black dragon that appeared on Kinley's card.

Frantically, Dragon rose through the air. He approached the portal and butted it with his head--as if that would activate it--but it remained cold and silent. When he glanced around, all he saw was the gray space and the others silently resting and biding their time. Dragon uttered a devastated noise and sank back to the ground, where he curled up and closed his eyes.

He saw Kinley's face.

Kiney... Dragon knew that his image would be back on the card again but he wanted to be out there with Kinley...
