- When his mother moved to Australia for schooling and work, she found and met Nico's father. The two married and intended to stay in Australia but his mother was called back home to Hazleton when her father grew gravely ill. Despite her mother being a witch, he passed on shortly after Nico's mother arrived.
They stayed to keep Nico's grandmother company. Nico's grandmother is a witch, as mentioned, a healer, to be precise. She lives in a large red brick home with a wraparound porch connected to the shifter woods. She tends to let drifters live with her and rescues animals and shifters without question.
