Biography:
Red was part of a larger community of fox shifters but local hunters have thinned the population considerably. Not being a registered citizen of the United States as he was born in fox form, he had no one to turn to when his parents and siblings were trapped and hunted. As a smaller shifter, he initially sought the protection of larger animals but got tired of getting pushed around and treated like a second-class citizen.

Red tried to blend in with the people of Hazleton but that didn't work out so well—as he kept shifting in and out of fox form with very little control over his abilities. He was captured by the well-meaning shelter volunteers but managed to get away. Scarred by his experience with people, he scurried back into the forest. Over time, he met others like him—smaller shifters displaced by hunters, with noplace left to go. They eventually formed a tight-knit group and get by mostly by stealing things from the farms and from unsuspecting hikers.

Notes:
His boyfriend, Alex, is less wary of humans and has even gotten a part-time job in town.

His human name is Skylar but he also likes Red so he goes between the two randomly. He can't speak much English, but understands a bit, with a vocabulary up to maybe a seventh or eighth grade level.
