"Yeah," he said with a rough growl to his voice. It would be best for both of them if Savas shifted. Not wasting any time, he shifted into the smaller coyote form. He shrugged out of his clothes and kicked them toward a bush before perking his ears up. Ah yes, this form was more comfortable--and he could sense things so much better this way. Immediately, he trotted toward the smell of gunpowder, taking it for granted that Daven would follow him.

Further into the woods, he could see it now. There was a hunter with a gun slung over his shoulder and a wolf curled up on its side, blood seeping out of a wound on its throat. It was not a white wolf. Just a regular grey wolf. Savas wasn't sure whether he was disappointed or not. All he knew was his animal instincts were kicking in and he bounded forward with a loud yip.

The hunter immediately turned toward him and shot. The bullet connected with Savas' shoulder and he went flying back, hitting the ground and rolling over with his back against the rough bark of a nearby tree.

Daven followed Savas after he shifted he could see he was on to something, he picked up a scent. Savas was fast and Danven was still tired from earlier he tried to pace himself not to overexert himself. He stopped in his tracks when he spotted the hunter before he could shout his name he was shot! Daven covered his mouth and hide behind a tree. He didn't need to get shot too.

Savas was bleeding, he could see that but he couldn't tell if it was bad or not. He didn't know what to do so he watched to see what the hunter was going to do and Daven sized him up, he was medium build and he had a rifle that was a lot more powerful then the gun he had and he seemed pretty good with his shot. "What's with all the animals tonight? Is it a full moon or something?" The hunter said to himself as he walked over towards Savas.

Daven didn't know what the man was going to do to him and he didn't know if he was still alive but he was still shifted so he assumed he was still alive. He didn't know for how long so he quickly reached for the gun in his back pocket. Every second felt like minutes he felt like he could hear time itself until a ringing filled his ears, for a moment he didn't know if it was his gun or the hunters gun that went off. He blinked a few times and realized he had shot the hunter, he fell over Davan ran over to Savas' lifeless body and scooped him up. He then put him the hunters truck and ran back to the man to get the keys. He was still alive, Thinking quickly and on his feet, he grabbed the hunters gun and pointed it at him, "Why did you shot them?"

His hands were shaking this all felt like a dream, did he really shoot this man? And was he going to kill him? He has seen his face so why now?

Another shot rang out and Savas was pretty sure he had just been wasted for real. This was it. This was the end. He was going to die. He closed his eyes for a moment and then he heard the sound of hurrying feet coming at him. He would have sprang up and fought the damned hunter if he had the strength. Instead, he half lifted his head and grimaced, about to spit in his face.

It turned out it wasn't the hunter, though.

Daven. His eyes fluttered closed again as he was lifted up and taken... somewhere. Back of a truck if he could judge by the feel and smell. Turning over onto his side, he saw that Daven had gone back to the hunter and was pointing his gun at him. He let out a low coyote's whine to get Daven's attention. This wasn't their culprit. He was a hunter and a killer of animals for sure but this wasn't the one they were looking for!

This was not how this was supposed to turn out they were supposed to find the white wolf and capture him and kill him after they questioned him. Not this! why was this all happening? Savas got his attention. His animal instinct understood him and he ran back to the truck not bother with the hunter. Daven needed to get Savas help and fast he was bleeding out. He drove to the vet clinic in town they were probably closed but he didn't know where else to go.

"Savas!' He cried out. "I was supposed to be the one to die not you." he was losing yet another person but right in front of him now. Death was haunting him following his every move taunting him with it. So close to him but not him. He just wanted this to all be over. But he still had some fight in him he was fighting for Savas' life right now.

Pulling up to the parking lot he put the truck in park and jumped out pounding on the door. "Help! I have an animal that's been shot!" He continued to pound on the door. Hoping someone was still in there.

"That'll be all," said Dr. Ross with a tight smile. His hand in Riku's was equally tight--it was clear that he didn't want the county ME anywhere around his practice. Riku looked him in the eye until Dr. Ross looked away. Their hands loosened and moved to their sides. Riku didn't smile but he bowed his head.

"Good evening. I suppose I'll see you--"

Both men looked to the door when a sudden wild pounding rent the air. Riku was used to such things. Dr. Ross appeared shaken, however, turning white. Oh? Had Riku stumbled onto something? He tilted his head as Dr. Ross hurried toward the door. Animal that had been shot. That hardly seemed new around here; hunters were a constant threat to animals in the mountains and forests.

But when the door opened, Dr. Ross revealed a youngster with what appeared to be an unconscious coyote. Riku watched impassively as Dr. Ross ushered the boy in.

"Come child, we need to take it the back room. It looks like it needs immediate surgery."

"Don't let him die he is all I have left!" Daven cried as he walked into the clinic Savas was limp he lost a lot of blood on the way here. Daven feared it was too late and he lost his buddy. What were they thinking, stealing a gun and chasing shadows in the dark? They were hurting yes but what in the world was he doing? His life was flashing before his eyes and he felt so empty inside he had no hope left inside he was empty it was a wonder how he was still breathing. Life is so strong but fragile at the same time.

He had to believe that these people could save Savas' life he had to have hope. He had to keep fighting to live how else will anyone hear the wonderful stories about his family. They lived on within him so he had to live he now had a reason to live.

Daven followed them into the back. Concern on his face he felt like he had to tell them what he was because they would soon find out when he shifted back into a human. "I have to tell you something," He paused. "He is... a shifter."Daven looked up with big eyes will you still save him?" His eyes began to water fearing the would kill him once they found out or put in in a lab to be touched. He had to have faith and hope in this mon=ment that they would do the right thing and preserve his life no matter what.

"None of my assistants are here," Dr. Ross said, as he gathered materials together. Riku put up a hand and then moved over to the box of gloves. He pulled them on. He was a doctor before he became a medical examiner. People thought it was strange to have such a "youngster" in the office but that was because they didn't know the full truth. If this coyote was going to be saved, he was in good hands. Riku wasn't a braggart; he was just matter of fact about his abilities. Dr. Ross was good but...

Dr. Ross looked up sharply at the mention of the word shifter but Riku just nodded. He had a feeling. Most people weren't this torn up about a random coyote being torn apart. It probably had something to do with all the strange phenomena happening in the woods lately.

"He's in good hands with us," Riku said. "Dr. Ross and I are both familiar with shifters."

Once they had IVs and machines hooked up, they could start the process.

"Please wait out in the waiting room," Dr. Ross said. "We'll inform you when he's out of surgery."

Daven was reluctant to leave Savas alone with them but what could he do being back there? It would just make him worst watching as they try to save his friend. If that's what you call him. Daven was so lost right now he didn't know what he was doing and he felt so lost in this moment he let them take Savas and he walked back into the waiting area. His feet slide across the floor and almost dropped into the chair he was so numb.

He sat in the chair staring at nothing his hands felt like they weren't his as he looked down at them. He didn't blink much he felt tired but awake at the same time he wanted to fight but wanted to give up. He sat in the same spot and didn't move until the door opened, he didn't know how long he sat there but jumped up.

"How is her? Is he okay? Can I see him?" He wouldn't let him speak, he had so many questions for him, he needed to know! Was Savas alive?!?!

Slowly, Riku raised his hands. The blue surgical gloves had been removed--the surgery was over.

"He's fine. It went well."

His tone remained impassive, his expression barely changing. Dr. Ross came out of the room behind him and he smiled broadly at the boy, reaching out to give him a gentle pat on the shoulder.

"Your friend will be okay. We stopped the bleeding and stabilized him. He might be a little groggy but he's ready to see you now."

Dr. Ross stepped aside to allow room for the boy to pass through. Riku slightly nodded. The shifter had to be sedated with a special magical drug used to keep shifters in one form but after the surgery was performed, he eventually was shifted back into a human male form. He was resting, albeit probably not that comfortably in a bed made more for large dogs than for human men.

"You should take him home," Dr. Ross said. "Get him some rest and remember, lots of fluids."

    Daven Boontham

"Thank you so so much,"Daven didn't know what else to say once they stepped aside he rushed into the room and Savas' side. He was pleased to see his smug face. The two were not close but he hugged him anyway, given everything they went through. "Hey, buddy you ready to get home?" He pulled away from the hug to look at Savas, "I hope you went trying to get killed like me cause it backfired and I saved you." He was thinking it so he thought he should share it with him.

He was at the point where he felt like he had to speak all his thoughts. Goos or bad. He still had the stolen truck so he could get them home but he would have to hide the truck and get a friend to go with him to clean it out and drop it off later. Or set it on fire, either way, he would need help. He looked to the doctors or vets or whatever they were. "What do I owe you?" He had to own them something for what they did even if it was just a favor, later on, he was sure he owed them something

"Ugh..." He groggily lifted his head and looked around with bleary eyes. Ready to go home, he asked him? Savas let out a low, husky laugh.

"Bud, I don't have a home anymore."

He wished it weren't true but it was. And they were so bent on getting revenge that he had forgotten something else; family. He felt so alone but he his sisters were still out there. Instead of playing hunter, he needed to make sure they were safe. At least, while he was on the mend. Once he was able again, he was going back out there to find that goddamned white wolf. The killer.

Struggling to position himself up to sit, Savas let out a slow breath. Everything hurt but mostly his head kept swimming. Probably drugs. Wrinkling his nose slightly, Savas waved off Daven's question of money and he was about to say they could stuff it when the younger dark haired doctor impassively said, "Nothing. Just go. This never happened."

And... and Savas could have sworn he winked at them. Savas narrowed his eyes.

"What? You don't think we can pay?"

    Daven Boontham

"I have a room I rent if you wanna stay with me." It was a bit forward but Savas needed to rest and if he had no home where would he rest? Daven could see he was still drugged up he didn't even know if he could walk. How the fuck was he getting him in the truck?

Supers haveing Supers backs, that's what was going down but Savas thought they were calling them poor or something, Savas tone was what alerted Daven, "It's okay they helped us." He didn't get their names beside Dr. Ross but he was really hoping he didn't have to see them under these type of circumstance again.

This might have been a wake-up call for Daven he lost his family and almost lost Savas what more did he have to lose?

"Yeah, fine..."

His words felt like they were slurring together. He blinked heavily and leaned against Daven. Tall, the guy might be. Substantial, he was not. Savas laughed to himself softly. Nothing but a little wispy thing, tall but knocked over by the wind. He tried not to lean too much on him because it felt like he was going to end up on the floor that way. He slid his hand over his body, trying to find out where they'd removed the bullet.

"Now I gotta kill the hunter too," he lamented. Why couldn't they just stop fucking with them? Was it really too much to ask?

Once they got to the truck, he plopped down in the driver's side out of habit. "Where you live at?"

    Daven Boontham

"Um, should you be driving? I don't want to die anymore maybe I should drive." He made a face fearing a slap to the face for telling Savas what to do. He was standing by the drive door he did have the keys and all. He waited for Saves to scoot his booty over on the bench set so he could drive them to his place, Asher is going to be pissed I hope he's working. he thought.

The drive was quiet for the most part Daven didn't know what to say to Savas after everything that happened. "You hungry? I can't cook but my roommate can and we have leftovers." He spoke up after a while food was always a good topic. He remembered Saves saying he had family still they might need to look for them soon here.

Savas glowered at Daven but it didn't work. The stubborn little brat forced him to move over and took the driver's seat from him. Savas made a sort of snarling sound in his direction and then lowered his head against the cool glass of the window. His head was still feeling fuzzy and he felt like he was swimming in something slow or like time wasn't working properly for him anymore.

He closed his eyes and opened them again when Daven broke the silence.

"Yeah," he said after a moment. He couldn't deny he was starving at this point, although at the moment, he'd rather crash than eat. Then his stomach let out the loudest rumble he'd heard in a long time and that seemed to settle it. Eat first. Sleep next.
