Lilly's sister got her all registered and she waited at the front as the called a student to escort her to her classes and locker. She was dreading this day it was the only school in this town and it was going to be hell she knew it. All the students knew each other and had a place and were part of a group.

Her sister had left a little while ago, they worked on her schedule she sat and watched the staff members. "I'll have you all set up soon here." The counselor smiled at Lilly as she typed away on her computer. The printer pushed out her schedule and the counselor reached over and grabbed it. "Looks like your a little ahead of our school so you should be able to catch up." She handed Lilly the paper.

Lilly looked down glancing over her classed she had gym first period, this had to be a curl joke who wakes up and goes to gym class? Lunch was 3rd period that was fair enough. She looked up quickly to see a tall boy with dark hair. I little caught off it was a boy.

"Ah Lyle this is Lilly," She gestured to Lilly. "Can you show her around, to her locker and giver her a tour. "I'll give you both tarty passes to take a look around." The counselor knew Lyle was responsible and would get the job done. Other students would take this time to advance on the poor girl but Lyle had a good head on his shoulders he was very mature and responsible for his age.

Lilly jumped up ready to get out of the office. The phone ringing was driving her mad, sometimes sounds got to her. But not all the time, she was just really nervous right now and it was bothering her.

"Sure, it'll be my pleasure," Lyle said, smiling at Lilly as she got up. The new kid--there was a pretty steady stream of them in this year and Lyle didn't always get to meet them first but when he did, he tried his best to help them fit in. There was something daunting, he thought, about coming into a small town like Hazleton and its one school and trying to fit in somewhere. Everybody stared and watched and gawked. Lyle didn't know the feeling--he lived here his whole life--but he had enough empathy to know how it must have felt to somebody else.

"Come with me," he said gently, putting a hand out to her. No pressure to take it, of course. Some people might think he was being a bit forward. Some of his guy friends definitely wouldn't have been bold enough to try and pull it off. Why? Immaturity, he'd say. A lot of his guy friends still couldn't decide if they wanted girls to like them or if they wanted to be idiots in front of them.

"Getting in this late, huh?" Lyle said as he walked Lilly out into the hall. "Look at it this way: you only have a couple more months until summer break. And by then, you'll have loads of friends to spend it with. We're a pretty nice bunch, most of us. I'll let you know who isn't."

His smile was almost as cute as his name it took Lilly off guard she felt almost drawn to him. So it surprised her too when she took his hand. It was a small town and he seemed so humble and kind. "Sure thing."Lilly had a little bit of an accent seeing that she was from New Orleans she herself had more of a Brooklynn accent. She didn't interlace her fingers with his their hands where just cupped.

Lilly half smile at his comment, "Ya have a point, summer will be here soon, what ya'll do round here for fun?" This was not like Lil to put herself out there like this but she felt so comfortable around Lyle he had such a kind vibe. Back home she wasn't much at school not in the "IN" crowd. This gave her a chance to make a fresh start and Lyle was over here giving her the lowdown.

She couldn't help but feel like he already excepted her now it was for the rest of his friends. "I hear tipping cows is fun." Lilly giggling making a farm joke not knowing. Either Lyle would like her bad jokes or hate them but things seemed to be going so smoothly.

"Ohhhh ho," Lyle said with a laugh and a good-natured eye roll in response to the cow-tipping comment. "I haven't heard that one before. But you know, we don't actually do that. We love our cows too much."

Plus there was the threat of other things out there coming at them but he wasn't sure he should talk about that with a girl who just arrived. Hard to tell if she was a part of the supernatural community or if she'd just stumbled into it but Lyle knew what his parents would have to say.

Letting go of her hand, he led her down the hall and showed her the bulletin board as they passed it.

"Mostly just there if you need tutoring or want to know about what events are going on around school. Some people also post up invites to parties but I promise you, still no cow tipping involved."

"Oh, this is a loving community." Lilly slanted her eyes at Lyle as he rolled his eyes. It was all in a playful manner but then turned her attention to the bulletin board. "What's a party without cow-tipping? Do you guys shoot beer bottles and have bonfires?" Lilly went to a bonfire once but it was him her friend's backyard it was her first sleepover and the girls were telling scary stories that summer night. Lilly had a hard time sleeping over at friend's house after that. So it didn't happen much.

"Do you attended any of these parties?" Lilly pulled a flyer down it was yellow. Nothing like the new kid showing up to the party either they would love her or hate her? Right? Not like Tatiana would let her go. Not like Lilly really wanted to go, she more just wanted to hang with Lyle.

Sounded like she didn't think it was all that loving so far. Bad experience? Lyle raised his brows slightly, but the conversation was smoothly moving onto the parties. Right, if there wasn't cow tipping, what was there? Lyle let out a laugh.

"Sometimes," he said, which was truthful enough. Lyle was the kind of person who slipped in and made friends with people from every clique in the school. He knew the jocks, was comfortable with the cheerleaders, there were the 4H kids, the band geeks. Lyle pretty much liked everyone and he had that sort of aura that made a lot of the other kids seem to come to him for advice. His father said it was his maturity.

"But," he said with an amused grin, "we don't shoot the beer bottles. That's more of an after school thing for the hunting club. And I think bonfires are pretty universal, right?"

The move to Hazleton was under dark circumstances, then she found out she had a half brother that was a big ass hat. Well, a big goof and a big surprise to her and her sister. It wasn't all a bad experience just stressful. The first day of her new school.

"Nice," Lilly nodded, she was a little impressed, she might wanna join Lyle at one of these parties. Now to get him to ask her? It would be forward of her to ask him to take her. Lilly brushed the stray hairs behind her ears. "Yeah, bonfires are universal. But I was just testing you. You know?" She laughed at her bad cover-up.

"You guys have a hunting club? That's just a little scary." It was a small farming town so she could see why it was offered to scare off foxes and other things the hunted farm stock. It's just Lilly was from the city and that wasn't something offered in she school.

"This party is for spring break, I forgot about that, Is that this weekend, Spring break? How long do they give us?" She smiled to herself. If Tatiana was trying to get rid of her that was going to be short-lived. A week of school then break, a few months and off for summer!

Lilly just might service this school year. And with some new friends in hand.

"Yeah," he said. "It's not as scary as it sounds. People in the club know what they're doing."

There were occasional gun accidents--that was inevitable--but in this two-horse, rural town, most everybody knew how to hold a hunting rifle at the very least. Lyle himself, who wasn't big on killing anything, could use one with efficiency if need be. Kids in this town were practically born with one in their hands but he didn't say that much, since it seemed like the idea of guns intimidated Lilly.

At least she wouldn't worry about somebody breaking one out at a party, though. He gave her a quirky half smile at the thought.

"Yeah, starts this weekend and goes into the rest of the week. A whole week off, right after you show up! Lucky, right?" Since she seemed so curious about them, he added, "Do you want to go to one with me? I promise your mammy or pappy I'll have you home on time."

The mammy and pappy thing was a bit of a joke; he didn't call his parents that and he doubted she did either but people seemed to peg the small town types in that same little square.

"I'll take your word, it's just this is all new to me." She just felt comfortable with Lyle and she really did trust him even if they just met.

"I'm pretty lucky I would say," Lilly was thrilled a short week of school and a week off and she's even going to a party. And with Lyle! Lilly tried not to smile. when he asked she looked away and let a laugh out.

Lilly then looked at Lyle, "My sister, my parents passed. and don't be sorry I brought it up, how were you to know you can't read my mind." Lilly went on a rant trying to speak for Lyle. She did that some times.

Mammy and Pappy was a good one they already got each other's jokes.

"But I'm sure she will let me go."

"We inherited my mother's house and that's where we are saying."

"Oh." He paled, feeling like crap even though Lilly laughed. Not a malicious laugh but maybe one of self deprecation. Lyle opened his mouth, earnestly ready to apologize but she seemed to sense the words were coming because there they were. Don't be sorry. But how could he not be? He made a mammy and pappy joke and her parents were... gone.

"I'm still sorry," he said, when Lilly fell silent. He had to say it; he couldn't let it just linger. But he knew she wanted to move past that and not dwell on it so he didn't push her to talk about it or ask her a bunch of questions. Instead, he slowly smiled at her.

"Great! And really? Where's it at?" He almost asked if she'd grown up here--Lilly's mother--but he refrained. Again, trying to be polite.

    Lilly Dimitrov

"Don't be sorry," Lilly gave Lyle a light smack on the arm.

"Slow down, asking where I live when we just met." Lilly couldn't help but tease Lyle it just happened naturally. She felt so dumb after saying it. What if he thought she was being forward? She covered her smile with her hand and bashfully looked away.

"Sorry, I hope you know I'm just messing with you!" Lilly said trying to save herself.

"First you tell me not to be sorry and then you apologize?" He gently nudged her on the arm in place of a slap on the arm (a conscious mirror of her actions toward him a moment ago).

"But yeah, if you don't want me to know, that's fine. Me, I live in the big farm just past the school, by the woods behind it. You can't miss it. The bus passes it every morning."

Agriculture was still a big business here in Hazleton so half the citizens were involved in some way or other in the business, either farming, growing orchards, owning shops that sold the goods people grew, or shipping those goods out. There was a pretty good business for it out here. Where did people think the people of Portland got all their organic goods, eh?

    Lilly Dimitrov

She was all giddy, telling him not to apologize and then she does it. Lilly didn't know if she was playing to much with Lyle, they did just meet and here she was acting like they were best pals. It was cute he was telling her where he lived she couldn't help but feel like he wanted her to know where he lives.

"I'll make sure to be on the lookout for your family farm." Lilly imagined what his farm was like knowing all too well it would be nothing like what she imagined.

Lilly and her sister's house wasn't a farm but it was a large two story house and it was really old, it was like it was one of the first houses built in this little town.

She had never been to this town but she felt at home and that made Lilly feel uncomfortable at times.

Lyle continued to show Lilly around, showing her where her classes were. He exchanged information with her so that they could contact each other outside school and so he could pick her up to take her to the party. It seemed like a good way for Lilly to meet a lot of the kids from the school in a more casual setting. Lyle didn't mind taking her, either. Although he was still too young to technically drive, he knew HOW to. He joked about stealing the family truck but he'd never do that to her.

By the end of their excursion, he thought he was really getting to know her. So at the end of the day, he smiled at her and gave her a playful salute before he was on his way out the door to head home.

"See you at the party, Dimitrov~" he said before he disappeared into the forests behind the school, which he took as a shortcut home.

(Ending here, like we discussed!)
