Jaxton--or Jax as he prefers to be called--was raised by a single father who did the best that he could to bring his son up the right way. According to his father, their family had to flee their small nomadic camp when ferals attacked one night, during which Jax lost a mother and an older sister. He doesn't remember them as he was too young at the time, but he has a yellowing photograph that he keeps on him at all times of his whole family.

Jax's father worked odd jobs at the academy as a custodian. Seeing the scholars becoming highly respected people and wanting that for his own son, he pushed Jax to enroll into the academy as well. That was where Jax met his best friend Ronan--and Ronan's brother Rory.

Not being a wild child at heart, and also being somewhat prosaic and level-headed, Jax thinks of himself as the firm hand guiding Ronan away from choices he'll regret later on in life. He has a slightly dry sense of humor but tends to get along well with others because of his maturity.

However, in affairs of the heart, Jax can be... dumb.

He's never been in love. So when he did fall. of course it was for the wrong person, for the wrong reasons, and now he's using that intelligence that he cultivated in the academy to do some very unsavory things.
