While he was born in Elysia, the strange stripe of blue in his hair caused his mother to fear he was a magi shifter. Because of that, she left him on the doorstep of the Elysian orphanage and fled.

Eliel never did turn out to have any kind of shifter capabilities, however. What he did have was an insatiable curiosity and a desire to break things so he could put them back together. It made him something of an annoyance to the orphanage staff and not a lot of the other kids really seemed to like him either.

When he saw his first airship, he fell in love and he stowed away to learn more. It seemed his knack for mechanical things came in handy when something went on the fritz in the airship and he made himself known. If it hadn't been for those skills of his, though, he would probably be a smudge on the ground.
